Honey from the flower nectar of the avocado tree

The fruits of the avocado tree were used as a source of oil and fruit by the Aztecs in Central America as early as 10,000 years ago. The avocado tree grows to an impressive 15 m tall. It grows in tropical Mexico, the home of the avocado. The many small white-greenish flowers are, like our sweet cherry, dependent on insect pollination.

The bees use the nectar to produce fruity, strong, very aromatic avocado honey, which tastes a little like dried fruit and plums. Its taste is comparable to that of oak, forest or sweet chestnut honeys and is also dark black.
