Honey from the sea of flowers of the Yucatan Peninsula
Beekeeping is almost the only form of agricultural use in the barren, pristine northern part of the Yucatan Peninsula. In spring, the Indian bees collect a mild, aromatic nectar from the sea of wild, yellow daisies. The Dzidzilché bush, with its white flowers, forms the basis for the second harvest, a slightly darker honey with a light lilac aroma.
